When I was out in San Diego last month, I spent a day wandering around Cabrillo National Monument. Truthfully, I was just expecting to spend an hour or two at the most looking around, but it turned into a full day’s excursion.

I spent the morning wandering down the bayside trail and taking in all the coastal sage brush (which smells amazing, by the way), and it was during this walk that I was inspired to create this pattern.

In the afternoon, I wandered over to the Pacific side of the point, where there are trails leading down the cliffs where you can explore huge tidal pools and watch the waves crash against the shore. I honestly can’t remember the last time I’d had a chance to sit back and just watch the ocean roll in and out.
